Thomasville man jingles bells with $25K ‘Jingle Bucks’

Saturday, December 24, 2011

One Thomasville man can “Deck the Halls” this holiday season with winnings from the Georgia Lottery. Henry Rollins, 78, played the instant game Jingle Bucks and won a $25,000 top prize.

Rollins said he purchased the ticket while on his way back from vacation.

Susie Q’s 13091 U.S. Highway 319 N. in Thomasville, sold the lucky ticket.

“I just went to the store and picked up the tickets,” the father of three adult children explained. “I scratched it at the house.”

Feeling good about his winnings, Rollins anticipates taking time to determine his plans.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
