ATLANTA – One Rincon man can party like a rock star for New Year’s with a win from the Georgia Lottery. David Laudermilk, 29, played the instant game Golden Ticket and won a $100,000 top prize.
Laudermilk said he stopped at BP, 101 S. Columbia Ave. in Rincon, for an energy drink and decided to buy a ticket.
“It was on Christmas Day, and I got lucky,” he said.
Scratching the ticket while in his truck, Laudermilk was in a daze.
“I was pretty excited,” he shared. “I couldn’t say anything. I just pointed at the ticket.”
A pizza delivery driver, the lucky lottery winner intends to pay off bills.
In addition to selling this winning ticket, BP in Rincon earlier this year sold a $2.5 million winning ticket and a $1 million winning ticket from Georgia Lottery instant games.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
