Gordon Co. man starts New Year with $1M lottery win

ATLANTA – A Gordon County man is starting off the New Year with a bang. Jimmy L. Wright, 59, won $1 million playing the Georgia Lottery instant game 50X The Money.

Wright, a resident of Ranger, claimed his prize Friday at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta. 

The lucky ticket was purchased at Get-N-Go, 2471 Highway 411 N.E., White.

50X The Money is a new game loaded with cash prizes, including $1 million top prizes.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.3 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
