ATLANTA – Kenneth Cole was enjoying a cup of coffee with his wife, Mary, when she suddenly exclaimed, “You won Fantasy 5!” Mr. Cole matched all five numbers in Sunday’s (11/28) Fantasy 5 drawing and won $659,954 before taxes.
“I was sitting at the table drinking coffee when I called the Georgia Lottery and checked the Fantasy 5 numbers,” says Mrs. Cole. “I hung up and called the lottery again to make sure. Then I called a third time.”
“Then she made me stop off at the store and get a copy of the numbers to make sure we had them right,” Mr. Cole laughs.
The winning numbers for Sunday’s Fantasy 5 drawing were: 8-9-11-21-34. Mr. Cole purchased the lucky Quik Pik ticket at Tadmore Food Mart, located at 2988 Gillsville Hwy. in Gainesville.
Mr. Cole, 66, works in commercial construction and enjoys golfing and fishing in his spare time. Mrs. Cole, 62, is a retiree. The Coles will pay bills with their winnings and plan to help their three daughters – Debra, Delores, and Diana, a HOPE scholar enrolled at Lanier Technical College.
Debra accompanied her parents to Georgia Lottery headquarters in downtown Atlanta and says, “We will have a very Merry Christmas.”
When asked if he’s always been lucky, Mr. Cole points to his wife and replies, “Yeah, I’ve got her and the kids.”
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the retailer incentive bonus. Tadmore Food Mart will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $16,000.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
