ATLANTA – It was the luck of the draw that dealt a Cairo woman a winning quarter-million dollar prize. Jurlene Reddick, 57, played the Georgia Lottery instant game $150,000,000 Slots of Luck and won a $250,000 top prize.
The grandmother of five stopped for gas at Easy In & Out, 2103 Smith Ave. in Thomasville, when she purchased the ticket and scratched it in her car.
"I couldn't believe it," she said. "It really didn't hit me."
Reddick, a retired caregiver, feels good about winning the lottery. She and her husband, Leroy, have three adult children.
The couple intend to pay off bills and vacation in Florida.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $10.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
