ATLANTA – Lisa Grenier of Savannah, 49, was at work when a friend called with exciting news. Grenier learned she won $20,000 after taxes in the Georgia Lottery’s $3,000,000 Taxes Paid extra chance drawing Wednesday.
“My friend was watching TV, and she heard my name,” Grenier explained. “I was at work. She called me up screaming.”
Grenier claimed her prize Thursday.
“It was very hard for me to continue working the rest of the night,” she said. “But I kept working with a big smile.”
Grenier, a cashier, will use some of her winnings to buy a new car and to travel.
The Georgia Lottery instant game $3,000,000 Taxes Paid is loaded with cash prizes up to $3 million after taxes. Players can submit non-winning game tickets in the weekly extra chance drawings for a chance to win $20,000 after taxes. Drawings are held every Wednesday.
