ATLANTA – Michael K. James of Greenwood, Fla., is one lucky Georgia Lottery winner. James, 65, is one of 48 Georgia Lottery players statewide to win a $10,000 prize from the record-breaking $656 million Mega Millions jackpot drawing held March 30.
He was also one of three winners to purchase a winning ticket in south Georgia.
Super B Express #0002, 300 E. Third St. in Donalsonville, sold the winning ticket.
Winning numbers from the historic drawing were: 2-4-23-38-46 and the Mega Ball was 23.
“I drove over that night,” James explained. “I came close to not going, so I’m glad I went.”
James said he found out Saturday while out to breakfast. He plans to pay off bills with his win.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
