ATLANTA – An Atlanta woman has come forward as a quarter-million dollar winner from the record-breaking $656 million Mega Millions drawing. Tarenthia Geer matched the first five numbers in the March 30 drawing, winning a $250,000 second prize.
The lucky lottery winner is one of six Georgia Lottery players to each win a $250,000 prize. Other $250,000 winning Mega Millions tickets were sold in Marietta, Athens, Sandersville, Waco and Ellabell.
Her winning combination was purchased at Kroger #0462, 3030 Headland Drive S.W. in Atlanta.
Winning numbers from the historic drawing were: 2-4-23-38-46 and the Mega Ball was 23.
Geer claimed her prize Monday at Georgia Lottery headquarters.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
