ATLANTA – A HOPE dad has one million reasons to smile. Pine Mountain resident Robin Harcey, who will celebrate his 52nd birthday on Tuesday, won a $1 million top prize playing the Georgia Lottery instant game Extreme Green. The news especially is exciting for the Harcey family. Harcey, his wife, Marcie, and their five children moved to Georgia about 10 years ago to benefit from the lottery-funded HOPE Scholarship Program. Two of his daughters attended college as HOPE recipients, he said. "Moving to Georgia was the best thing to happen to us," Harcey shared. "HOPE and Pre-K is just wonderful." Harcey and his wife, who own a monogram business, are in high spirits since winning the prize. He stopped at Money Back #0025, 343 N. Main St. in Pine Mountain, and purchased the ticket. He scratched it later that evening after remembering he had it in his wallet. "I called all of my kids together and said, 'Hey I just won a million dollars,' " he said. "They were very excited and said that I was too calm." Feeling good about his lottery win, Harcey anticipates paying off his mortgage and saving the remainder. "I don't think it really hit me yet," he said. "This is a life-changing moment." Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program. Play Responsibly – It's All About Fun!
