Port Wentworth man grabs $250,000 prize in Jesup

ATLANTA – A spur of the moment decision led to a quarter-million dollar lottery win for one Port Wentworth man. Brian Brown, 30, won a $250,000 prize from matching the first five winning numbers in the Oct. 16 Mega Millions drawing.

"I am absolutely excited," he exclaimed. "I'm still in shock."

Brown drove to Jesup to visit his 6-year-old daughter last Friday. On the way, he stopped at Flash Foods #0193, 111 Sunset Blvd. in Jesup, to buy soda and candy for her. Noticing the $200 million jackpot drawing for the evening, Brown also purchased a Quik Pik ticket.

Winning numbers from the Oct. 16 Mega Millions drawing were: 10-13-18-33-51 and the Mega Ball was 43. The father of two checked his computer for the results the following day.

"It all worked out good," he said.

According to Brown, he intends to pay off the remainder of his rent for the year and purchase a new truck.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
