ATLANTA – The Georgia Lottery Corp. board of directors will hold its quarterly board meeting at 11 a.m. Thursday. The meeting will be held at Southwest Georgia Technical College, 15689 U.S. Highway 19 N., Thomasville. Thomasville resident G. Anthony "Tony" Campbell previously served as Georgia Lottery board chair and continues to serve on the board. "During Mr. Campbell's tenure as board chair, the Georgia Lottery experienced unprecedented growth and success," said James "Jimmy" Braswell, current board chair. "We are grateful for his leadership and service." The Georgia Lottery is the only traditional lottery in the U.S. to experience 11 consecutive years of growth in profits. Thomas County has benefited greatly from lottery-funded educational programs. Since the Georgia Lottery's inception, 10,975 Thomas County students have received more than $30.4 million from Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program. More than $25.4 million has gone to Thomas County for Georgia's Pre-K Program, benefiting 5,771 students. The county has received an additional $5.6 million for capital outlay and technology initiatives. Southwest Georgia Technical College is also a great beneficiary of the Georgia Lottery with 12,589 students receiving more than $18.9 million from HOPE. Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program. Play Responsibly – It's All About Fun!
