Blue Ridge office assistant juggles $161,000 lottery prize

ATLANTA – A Blue Ridge office assistant is juggling a large lottery win. Karen Hamilton, 42, is one of four players each to win a $161,344 jackpot prize from matching all five winning numbers in the Oct. 28 Fantasy 5 drawing.

"I'm excited," the grandmother of two said.

Winning numbers from the Oct. 28 Fantasy 5 drawing were 5-15-20-23-29. Bill's Convenience Store, 10122 Blue Ridge Drive in Blue Ridge, sold the winning Quik Pik ticket. She discovered her lottery win from the Georgia Lottery's Web site. Two winning jackpot tickets were purchased in Atlanta, and the other winning jackpot ticket was purchased in Fayetteville.

"I plan to pay off bills and purchase a new car," Hamilton shared.

In addition to her two granddaughters, Hamilton and her husband, Scott, have two adult daughters.

Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning jackpot Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning jackpot ticket is sold, the retailers selling the jackpot winning tickets will share the bonus. Bill’s Convenience Store will receive a $2,500 retailer incentive bonus.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.2 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
