ATLANTA – Ten employees of an auto parts plant are driving into the New Year as Georgia Lottery winners. The office pool won $175,000 by matching the first five winning numbers in the Dec. 7 Mega Millions drawing.
As Susan Clem claimed the prize on Monday (1/3), members of the office pool celebrated with her at the Georgia Lottery Corporation’s Dalton District Office. “We are all excited!” exclaims Ms. Clem.
The lucky Quik Pik ticket was purchased at Morgan Grocery, located at 3761 Ga. Hwy. 137 E. in Buena Vista. The winning numbers for the Dec. 7 drawing were: 01-19-22-32-49 and the Gold Mega Ball was 29.
Members of the office pool say they plan to save their winnings and they will continue to play Mega Millions together. “We already have a new set of numbers,” says Ms. Clem.
The lucky group is employed by Delphi Steering Gear in Athens, Ala.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions will benefit education in the state of Georgia. Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
