Paulding County store sells lucky Powerball ticket

Friday, May 11, 2012

ATLANTA – Check your tickets! A Georgia Lottery retailer in Paulding County has sold a Powerball ticket worth $2 million.

The lucky ticket from Wednesday’s drawing was purchased at Crossroads Grocery, located at 8774 Dallas Acworth Highway in Dallas.

Winning numbers from the May 9 drawing were: 1-7-11-55-56 and the Powerball was 1.

The ticket purchased in Dallas matched the first five winning numbers from the drawing. Because the PowerPlay option was selected for an additional $1, the prize amount increased by $1 million.

The winner has 180 days from the draw date to claim.

Powerball is a multi-state game that is $2 per play. Players can increase prizes with the Power Play option for an additional $1 per play. Drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday.

Saturday’s jackpot is $80 million.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
