Ho! Ho! Ho! Harrison man wins a merry $624,000

ATLANTA – It's the most wonderful time of the year for a Harrison man. James Sampson matched all five winning numbers in the Dec. 13 Fantasy 5 drawing and won $624,134.

"I didn't believe it," said Sampson, 59.

The jackpot ticket was purchased at Busy Food Mart, 635 E. McCarty St., Sandersville. Sampson won using numbers from a previous Quik Pik combination.

"About five years ago, I got a Quik Pik, and I've been playing those numbers off and on since then," he explained.

A father of four, Sampson plans to use some of his winnings to help his children.

Winning numbers for the Dec. 13 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 8-9-13-18-32.

Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 jackpot tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning jackpot ticket is sold, the retailers selling the jackpot winning tickets will share the bonus. Busy Food Mart will receive a $10,000 retailer incentive bonus.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.2 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
