ATLANTA – Holiday lights are glowing and so is one Roswell woman since winning a Georgia Lottery prize. Jeri Mann, 62, won a $150,000 top prize playing the instant game Giant Jumbo Bucks.
She was on her way home from helping a friend decorate a tree when she stopped at Chevron Food Mart, 2970 Holcomb Bridge Road in Alpharetta, to purchase a ticket. She scratched it at home.
"I was shaking and gasping," Mann said of her win. "This is a mind-altering experience."
She plans to pay off bills and invest the remainder.
"It's still totally surreal," she exclaimed.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program. More than 1.2 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
