ATLANTA – An aeronautical engineering machinist from Rockmart is flying high. Richard Pruitt, 44, has won $175,000 by matching the first five winning numbers in the Jan. 4 Mega Millions drawing.
A few days after the drawing, Mr. Pruitt noticed that he was carrying the ticket and a printout of the draw results in his wallet. He compared his ticket to the printout and realized that he won $175,000.
Mr. Pruitt purchased his ticket of randomly selected numbers at Grands #0018, located at 6435 Douglasville Hwy. in Powder Springs. The winning numbers for the Jan. 4 Mega Millions drawing were: 03-06-07-12-32 and the Gold Mega Ball was 30.
According to Mr. Pruitt, he is still deciding how to use his Mega Millions prize. “I’m going to think about it.”
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions will benefit education in the state of Georgia. Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
