ATLANTA – A Kathleen woman has won big bucks from the Georgia Lottery. Veronica Releford, 42, played the instant game Big Bucks and won a $100,000 top prize.
Releford purchased and scratched her lucky ticket at Rocky’s Food Mart, 405 S. Pleasant Hill Road in Warner Robins.
“I just casually walked out,” said the mother of two.
But her husband had a much livelier reaction when she broke the news.
“He screamed and shouted,” she said.
Releford, who works as a mental health technician, plans to pay bills and take a small vacation.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $11.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.2 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
