ATLANTA – A Ringgold truck driver is hauling an oversized load after winning the top prize on Fantasy 5. Charles Holmes matched all five numbers in Saturday’s (1/8) Fantasy 5 drawing and won $124,075 before taxes.
Mr. Holmes called the Georgia Lottery Corporation’s Player Information Hotline on Sunday (1/9) morning and discovered that he was a Fantasy 5 winner. “I was surprised,” he says. “For a few seconds, I was speechless.”
According to Mr. Holmes, 66, he plans to pay bills and retire. “I was already planning to retire. This will help it come along a little quicker.”
The winning numbers for Saturday’s Fantasy 5 drawing were: 15-20-24-31-36. Mr. Holmes purchased his Quik Pik ticket at Patty’s Truck Stop, located at 940 Hwy. 140 in Adairsville.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the retailer incentive bonus. Patty’s Truck Stop will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $4,000.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
