ATLANTA – A Norcross technician cast the “Net” and won a Georgia Lottery prize. Francis Crouch, 58, matched the first five winning numbers in the April 3 Powerball drawing, winning a second prize of $200,000.
He saw his winning numbers on the Georgia Lottery’s Web site after pulling the ticket from his wallet.
“My wallet was getting fat, so I decided to pull it out and check it,” Crouch said. “When I saw that I’d won, tears came to my eyes.”
Winning numbers from the April 3 Powerball drawing were: 10-15-31-52-59; the Powerball was 4 and the Power Play multiplier was 4. Spalding CITGO, 3425 Medlock Bridge Road in Norcross, sold the winning ticket.
An AT&T technician for 40 years, Crouch anticipates paying off his home mortgage. Early retirement also is a possibility, he shared.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.2 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
