ATLANTA – A Dacula man’s fantasy has come true. Stephen Hewitt, 67, won $500,800 in the June 23 Fantasy 5 drawing.
Georgia Lottery officials presented Hewitt with an oversized check Tuesday at the store where he purchased the jackpot ticket.
“It feels pretty good,” he said.
According to Hewitt, he began playing Fantasy 5 three months ago.
“I randomly picked numbers and kept playing them,” he said.
Hewitt said his lucky win comes at a great time.
“I’m a cancer patient,” he said. “I just finished radiation. I have a lot of medical bills to pay off.
“I’m going to take care of all the bills, then sit down and plan what else to do.”
Exxon at Papermill, 108 E. Crogan St. in Lawrenceville, sold the lucky ticket.
Winning numbers for the drawing were: 11-13-16-23-26.
