Snellville entrepreneur launches $250,000 win

ATLANTA – A quarter-million dollar lottery win has one Snellville entrepreneur speechless. Eddie Lemons, an investment manager, won a $250,000 second prize playing Mega Millions from matching the first five winning numbers in the April 23 drawing.

“I feel like I’m in a movie,” said Lemons, 37. “It’s unbelievable.”

Winning numbers from the April 23 Mega Millions drawing were: 19-26-28-37-52 and the Mega Ball was 18. Lemons purchased his ticket – a Quik Pik with his own Mega Ball selection – from The Market, located at 2007 Scenic Highway in Snellville.

While at home, he compared his numbers to a printout from the store.

“I screamed and paper went everywhere,” he recalled. “I was shaving, and the shaving cream got all over the walls.”

For Lemons, winning feels surreal, he shared. He intends to invest his winnings.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions will benefit education in the state of Georgia.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.2 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
