Canton meat demonstrator sandwiches $152,000 prize

ATLANTA – A Canton woman, who gives Boar’s Head demonstrations in grocery stores, has won a meaty Georgia Lottery prize. Pamela Hester, 53, won a $152,649 Fantasy 5 jackpot prize from matching all five winning numbers in the April 23 drawing.

Winning numbers from the April 23 drawing were: 13-15-30-34-39. Hester purchased her winning ticket at Jackson Trail Food Mart 12, 4001 Highway 124 West in Jefferson, using a combination of her own numbers.

She discovered her lottery win after calling the Georgia Lottery’s Player Information hot line.

“I couldn’t believe it, so I called my husband,” she said. “I believe it now.”

Together, Hester and her husband, Phillip, have six adult children and five grandchildren. She plans to buy a new car, pay off her car note and give money to the couple’s children and grandchildren.

Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 jackpot tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning jackpot ticket is sold, the retailers selling the winning jackpot tickets will share the bonus. Jackson Trail Food Mart 12 will receive a $4,000 retailer incentive bonus.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.2 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
