Ringgold carpenter grabs $250,000 instant win

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

ATLANTA – A quarter-million dollar prize has emerged for one lucky Ringgold man. Michael Tutton, a self-employed carpenter, played the Georgia Lottery instant game Millionaire Jumbo Bucks and won a $250,000 prize.

Tutton, 53, won his prize while getting gas at Sunset Market #0006, 141 Highway 41 in Ringgold.

“I had a store clerk to confirm the prize,” he said. “I stuck it in my back pocket. It hadn’t hit me.”

With his prize, the lucky lottery winner said he plans to purchase a new house and truck.

“I’ll put the rest in the bank,” Tutton shared.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.2 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
