ATLANTA – A Georgia Lottery prize marked a wonderful winning weekend for one Dawsonville grandmother of five. Sandra Smith, who will celebrate her 51st birthday June 3, won a $150,000 prize playing the instant game Giant Jumbo Bucks over the Memorial Day weekend.
“What a birthday present,” she exclaimed. “We’re going to do something nice.”
Neighborhood Convenience, 75 Highway 9 N. in Dawsonville, sold the winning top prize ticket. Smith was traveling out of town for the weekend when she stopped for gas. It wasn’t until she arrived at her son’s house that she discovered her prize.
“I stuck it in my purse,” she said. “I was in disbelief. I’m still in shock.”
Smith is a sales associate. She and her husband, Donald, have three adult children.
The lucky lottery winner said she feels great about her prize.
“This will be my nest egg,” she shared.
