Frozen assets: Ice cream stop nets Columbus man $45K

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

ATLANTA – Winning a Georgia Lottery prize was more than an ice cream dream for one Columbus man. Ulysses Ingram Jr. won a $45,000 top prize playing the instant game Golden Goal.

Ingram, 61, stopped for ice cream after work and purchased his lucky ticket at Circle K Stores #6686, 3274 Victory Drive in Columbus.

“I had chills for some reason,” he explained. “When I went home, I scratched it.”

The father of five and his wife, Monica, consider the windfall a treat.

“She started screaming,” Ingram said. “I had to put my fingers in my ears.”

As a machine operator for a bakery, Ingram said he intends to “let off some steam.

“We’re going to go on a vacation,” he shared. “We don’t know where we’re going yet.”

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $11.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
