ATLANTA – A Floyd County great-grandmother has rounded up a generous Georgia Lottery prize. Judy Chambers, 62, won a $377,777 top prize playing the instant game Red, White & Blue 7’s.
With two children, two grandchildren and six grandchildren, Chambers anticipates more playful days with her family.
“I’ve been wanting a place on the lake for the grandkids,” she said.
Chambers, who lives in Lindale, purchased her ticket at Plaza Food Mart, 1598 Rome Highway in Cedartown.
Chambers said she had a lucky feeling about stopping at that store.
“Oh yes, I was excited,” she said. “I went to the car, scratched it, and I took it back inside. The clerk was happy, too.”
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
