Lucky Lady Wins $1 Million After Three Lottery Wins in One Week

Thursday, February 10, 2005

ATLANTA - Isabel Cubero didn't think her week could get any better when she and her husband, Juan, won $1,000 twice on Georgia Lottery instant games. However, Mrs. Cubero's great week became spectacular when she won $1 million on the Georgia Lottery instant game $100 Million Cash Spectacular.

The Cuberos won $1,000 playing Lucky Payday. Then the Marietta couple won $1,000 on $100 Million Cash Spectacular. Mr. and Mrs. Cubero topped off their winning week with the $1 million top prize on $100 Million Cash Spectacular.

"I was about to cash the first $1,000 ticket when my husband called and said, 'I have a better one.' I didn't believe him," Mrs. Cubero says.

According to Mrs. Cubero, her husband purchased all of the winning tickets. "He's the lucky one."

The $1 million top prize ticket was purchased at AM PM Citgo Food Mart, located at 1750-A Bells Ferry Rd. in Marietta.

Mrs. Cubero, a real estate agent, shares, "I would like to probably invest it and probably give some to charity." She also plans to help her two daughters and would like to take a vacation.

$100 Million Cash Spectacular offers 10 $1 million top prizes and over $118 million in additional cash prizes, providing the highest payout percentage in Georgia Lottery history. Tickets went on sale on Tuesday, Feb. 1. To date, three $1 million prizes have been claimed. Mrs. Cubero is the second Marietta resident to win the $1 million top prize. The first Marietta winner, Carolyn Mitchell, purchased her ticket in Resaca.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
