ATLANTA - The Chinese New Year is off to a great start for Norcross resident Brandon Phan. Mr. Phan's wife, Lan Ha, presented him with a Fantasy 5 ticket as a gift for the Chinese New Year. The ticket matched all five numbers in the Feb. 8 Fantasy 5 drawing, and Mr. Phan was one of two players to win $261,914.
"She gave it to me for a lucky New Year," says Mr. Phan. "My hands are still shaking, and my eyes are still running."
Mr. Phan, 32, works at a machine shop. He will use a portion of his prize to pay bills and to take his family to Disney World this summer.
Mr. Phan's Quik Pik ticket was purchased at The Village Market, located at 5175 S. Old Peachtree Rd. in Norcross. The second top prize ticket for the Feb. 8 Fantasy 5 drawing was sold in East Ellijay.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the retailer incentive bonus. The Village Market will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $6,000.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs.
