ATLANTA – A car sales manager has won thousands, loading up on a Georgia Lottery prize. Ben Davis of North Augusta, S.C., was one of three players each to match all five winning numbers from the Aug. 21 Fantasy 5 drawing, taking home the $59,466 jackpot prize.
Davis, 56, intends to share his prize with Todd Torchia, general manager of the local Hyundai dealership.
Davis claimed the prize Wednesday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Augusta.
“We picked our own numbers,” Davis said. “They didn’t have any significance.”
The father of two said that a sailboat passed him on the Interstate on the day of the drawing, and that was his lucky sign to play.
“I just like sailboats,” he explained.
Circle K #5373, 261 Furys Ferry Road in Martinez, sold the winning ticket. Two other jackpot winning tickets were sold in Augusta and Stockbridge.
Davis and Torchia are happy they’ve won.
“At first I said, ‘I’ve got the wrong ticket.’ I had to check the date,” Davis recalled. “I couldn’t believe it, but (Todd) could tell by my expression that it was real.”
Winning numbers from the Aug. 21 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 8-9-17-25-34.
