$250K prize blooms for Gwinnett County mother-to-be

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

ATLANTA – One Gwinnett County mother-to-be is cuddling a quarter-million dollar prize courtesy of the Georgia Lottery. Yesenia Frias of Lawrenceville has rounded out her growing family with a $250,000 top prize playing the new instant game Atlanta Falcons Cash Blowout.

“I’m expecting, and my due date is in October. It’s a girl,” exclaimed Frias, 25.

She and her husband, Alejandro, have three children.

With her windfall, Frias intends to purchase a new home.

Amoco Food Shop, located at 5694 Buford Highway in Norcross, is where the lucky winner purchased the ticket and scratched it in the store.

“I got excited,” she said. “My husband felt happy, and he was surprised.”

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
