ATLANTA – Winning’s a gem for Ann Lokeman of Stone Mountain. Mrs. Lokeman played the Georgia Lottery instant game Crown Jewels and won $175,000.
The lucky ticket was purchased at Chevron Food Mart, located at 410 S. Stone Mountain-Lithonia Rd. in Stone Mountain.
According to Mrs. Lokeman, 41, she scratched the ticket in the store and was surprised to see that she was a top prize winner. “I was totally shocked,” she says. “My hand started shaking. My body just went numb.”
Mrs. Lokeman rushed home to show the ticket to her husband, Robert. Mr. Lokeman says, “She just handed me the ticket. I went to get my glasses and then I froze.”
The Lokemans, who are celebrating 16 years of marriage, have four children. Mrs. Lokeman works as a day care employee, and Mr. Lokeman is a contact lenses technician. The couple plan to save for their children’s future, make a few home improvements, and purchase a new sports utility vehicle.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
