ATLANTA – A wife’s old favorites has helped one Jackson man roundup a customized prize from the Georgia Lottery. Michael Caudle of Jackson is one of two players each to win $149,259, matching all five winning numbers from the Nov. 1 Fantasy 5 drawing.
Caudle, 60, played numbers from his wife’s vintage sports team jerseys from her days playing softball in Douglasville.
Shell Food Mart, located at 3638 Highway 5 in Douglasville, sold the lucky combination. The second jackpot winning ticket was sold in Columbus.
“I stopped at the gas station this weekend,” Caudle said. “You can’t imagine what I was thinking. I asked, ‘Is this real?’”
Caudle and his wife, Tina, confirmed their winnings when they checked the results from the drawing on the Georgia Lottery’s website.
“I want to pay off bills and put up money for a vacation next summer,” he exclaimed. “This is quite a phenomenon!”
A truck driver, the lucky winner also is celebrating his daughter’s recent milestone as a college graduate who was a recipient of the Georgia Lottery-funded HOPE Scholarship.
Winning numbers from the Nov. 1 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 3-7-12-22-32.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
