Winning ticket worth $25K sold in Augusta

Monday, January 7, 2013

ATLANTA – A store in Augusta has sold a Georgia Lottery instant ticket carrying a $25,000 top prize. Shree Ganesh Food Mart, located at 3105 Deans Bridge Road in Augusta, sold a winning ticket worth $25,000 from the holiday-themed instant game Jingle Bucks.

The winner, William Morse Jr. of Augusta, claimed his prize recently at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Augusta.

“I scratched it in the store,” said Morse, 43. “I had to look at it two and three times to be sure.”

Morse, an industrial hydraulics technician, intends to pay off bills with his windfall.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
