ATLANTA – A Monroe County man is celebrating a win from the Georgia Lottery. Hiram Davis of Juliette, matched all five numbers from the Jan. 16 Fantasy 5 drawing, winning the $285,908 jackpot prize.
Davis, a retired subcontractor, claimed his prize Thursday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Macon.
“I remembered that I bought a ticket,” he explained. “I looked in my billfold and checked the numbers while I was at the grocery store.”
Davis, 65, said he also called the Georgia Lottery’s Player Information Hot Line to confirm his winnings.
“I feel pretty good,” he exclaimed.
The lucky winner and his wife, Jo, intend to purchase a new truck.
Winning numbers from the Jan. 16 drawing were: 8-11-20-29-36.
Rum Creek Convenience Store, located at 8703 Highway 87 in Juliette, sold the lucky Quik Pik ticket.
