Douglas woman wins $3 million

ATLANTA – A Douglas woman is Georgia’s newest millionaire. Vickie Gasque, 59, won $3 million playing the new Georgia Lottery instant game 100X The Money.

Gasque purchased her lucky ticket Saturday at Baker Express, located at 1436 Baker Highway W., Douglas.

She scratched the ticket at the store and described her and her husband’s reactions as “unbelief.”

Gasque and her husband, Clarence, have six children.

The general manager of a manufacturing plant, Gasque doesn’t know how she will use her winnings but said she may retire.

100X The Money is a new instant game with prizes up to $3 million. Gasque is the game’s first top prize winner.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
