Dublin forklift operator carries out $40K prize

Thursday, February 14, 2013

ATLANTA – Winning a prize from the Georgia Lottery is a bonanza of an experience, according to one lucky Dublin man. Robert Gibson, a forklift operator, has stacked a $40,000 windfall from playing the new instant game $400,000 Bonanza.

“I just got lucky,” said Gibson, 51.

He purchased his ticket at 3 Way Food Mart, 1235 N. Jefferson St. in Dublin.

“I screamed, ‘Yay!’ in the store,” Gibson said. “I feel good. I can pay everything off.”

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
