ATLANTA – Sammons Eagle One Travel Center, located at 100 Sara Lee Drive in Eatonton, has recently sold a $1 million Maximum Green top prize ticket. The manager of the Eatonton travel center considers selling a colossal Georgia Lottery prize special.

“We’re very excited about it,” Howell Cardwell said. “We do hope it attracts more business because we do have a nice location.”

According to Cardwell, the ticket was purchased from the Georgia Lottery’s instant ticket vending machine. The winner, a resident of Conyers, claimed the winning ticket July 19.

Cardwell touted the center’s spacious setting, including a full restaurant, gaming room, laundry room, truckers lounge and marble showers.

“We consider ourselves lucky because we can generate a lot of business from it,” he said. “And the lottery is a good partner for us. They do benefit us by helping us to bring in more customers.”

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $11.9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.25 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
