ATLANTA – A Waynesboro woman has claimed her spot as a Georgia Lottery winner with a $40,000 prize. Leona Vankleeck, 56, played the new instant game Break The Bank and won her top prize.
“I couldn’t believe it! I kept looking at the ticket,” Vankleeck said.
In N Out, 138 Ga. Highway 23 S. in Waynesboro, sold the winning ticket.
The lucky winner scratched it in her truck in the store’s parking lot.
“I have no idea yet,” Vankleeck said in regards to her plans. “I haven’t even thought that far.”
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
