ATLANTA – A Cobb County woman is beaming since winning more than a half-million dollars from the Georgia Lottery. Angelia Salas, 50, of Smyrna won a $550,000 top prize playing the instant game $550,000 Grand Money.
The Publix employee purchased her prize while on her lunch break.
“I scratched it in the store,” Salas recalled. “I said, ‘Oh my gosh! Am I seeing this right? Is this real?’”
Publix Super Market #1249, 5630 Roswell Road N.E. in Sandy Springs, sold the winning ticket.
Salas handed the ticket to her supervisor, who confirmed her winnings.
“I feel like the whole world has been lifted off of me,” she exclaimed.
With her winnings, Salas intends to pay off her car note as well as her father’s car note. She also plans to pay off her father’s home mortgage.
