Powerball takes lead with whopping $350M up for grabs

ATLANTA – A combined $520 million is up for grabs from massive Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots, creating waves of excitement across Georgia.

Both jackpots create the highest combined jackpot total in Georgia since the multi-state draw games began cross-selling in 2010.

Mega Millions is at an estimated $170 million for Tuesday’s drawing while Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot has reached a whopping $350 million to a single annuity winner.

Friday’s Mega Millions drawing produced three lucky Georgia Lottery winners to win prizes of $10,000. Those tickets were sold at Winn Dixie Store #0439 in Columbus, Shell Food Mart in Buford and Auto Plus of Washington in Washington.

One lucky Georgia Lottery player won a $40,000 prize from Saturday’s Powerball drawing while two players won prizes worth $10,000. Quick Mart #0001 in Dahlonega sold a winning ticket that matched the first four winning numbers with Power Play to win a $40,000 prize. Two winning tickets worth $10,000 were sold at Main Street Market Deli in Atlanta and Publix Super Market #0508 in Snellville.

The Mega Millions jackpot has grown since March 15 and has rolled 17 times.

Mega Millions offers two jackpot payment options: approximately $6.5 million a year for 26 years with the annuity option, or a single payment worth approximately $126 million with the cash option.

It only takes $1 to play Mega Millions for a chance to win big. Players can multiply prizes with the Megaplier option for an additional $1 per play.

The jackpot for Powerball has grown since April 3 and has rolled 12 times.

Powerball offers two payment options: the $350 million jackpot prize paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments, or the cash option, which is approximately $222 million.

Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Players can add the Power Play feature for an additional $1 per play.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions and Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
