ATLANTA – A Rome man is celebrating a win from the Georgia Lottery. Sam Adkins, 56, won a $129,124 jackpot prize playing Fantasy 5. Adkins matched all five winning numbers from the April 30 drawing.
Smiley Shilas Corner Shop, 1714 Turner McCall Blvd. S.W. in Rome, sold the lucky Quik Pik ticket.
Adkins discovered his windfall recently and claimed his prize at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Dalton.
“I went back to the store and had it checked,” the lucky winner said. “I was quite pleased.”
He and his wife, Angela, are considering their plans. The couple have four adult children.
Winning numbers from the April 30 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 1-3-32-36-37.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
