ATLANTA – An Albany truck driver has steered right into a hefty prize courtesy of the Georgia Lottery. David Williams won a $1 million top prize playing the Georgia Lottery 20th Anniversary Extravaganza instant game.
Williams claimed his prize recently at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Tifton.
En route to North Carolina, Williams stopped and purchased his ticket at BP Truck Stop, 2560 Burton Ferry Highway in Sylvania.
“I saw a sign that read, ‘Last Chance for Georgia Lottery,’ ” said Williams, 62. “It caught my eye. I thought, ‘Why not?’”
Williams purchased his lucky ticket from $290 in winnings from a recent Cash 3 drawing.
“It shocked me. I’m still in shock,” Williams exclaimed. “All of this is exciting.”
Williams plans to retire.
