ATLANTA – A Savannah man who owns a marine canvas and upholstery business is trolling gleefully since winning a gargantuan prize from the Georgia Lottery. Allen Douberly, 45, played the instant game Georgia Lottery 20th Anniversary Extravaganza and won a $1 million top prize.
Douberly purchased his lucky ticket at BDG Food Mart, 2511 Skidaway Road in Savannah, on his way to work.
“I scratched the ticket outside of my business,” he explained. “I almost had a heart attack.”
Georgia Lottery representatives presented Douberly with an oversized check Wednesday at the store where he purchased his ticket.
“It hasn’t hit me yet,” he said.
The lucky winner intends to invest the winnings in his business.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
