ATLANTA – A Spalding County high school teacher is celebrating a win from the Georgia Lottery. Sharon Gotell of Barnesville won a $100,000 prize playing the instant game $1,000,000 Benjamins.
Copeland Grocery, 1578 High Falls Road in Griffin, sold the winning ticket.
“I purchased it because it had $1 million on the front of it,” said Gotell, 40. “I scratched it in the car.”
The lucky winner and her spouse, Victor, feel great about their winnings.
“We’re going to pay bills,” Gotell shared.
The Georgia Lottery instant game $1,000,000 Benjamins is loaded with cash prizes of up to $1 million.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
