Decatur woman collects $467K in winnings for birthday

Friday, June 21, 2013

ATLANTA – Ruth Rice of Decatur is celebrating a birthday and a Fantasy 5 jackpot prize worth $467,341 from the June 16 drawing. Rice, who celebrated her 62nd birthday Tuesday, claimed her prize the same day at Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta.

The lucky winner’s adult son purchased the Quik Pik on Father’s Day at BP Food Mart, 4840 Flat Shoals Parkway in Decatur.

The ticket matched all five winning numbers, and Rice’s son presented her with the ticket as a birthday gift.

“We were hysterical, laughing,” Rice said. “I feel awesome.”

Her only son, Rice also has a granddaughter.

“We don’t know what we’re going to do. We’ll take it day-by-day,” she shared. “We’re just engrossed in being able to win this prize.”

Winning numbers from the June 16 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 2-4-26-32-38.
