ATLANTA – An insulation installer is padding his pockets with $1,000 a week for life. John Alzate won the $1,000 a week for life top prize on the Georgia Lottery instant game Win for Life, with a guaranteed minimum payout of $1 million.
The lucky Win for Life ticket was purchased at Stateline Package, located on Hwy. 441 in Dillard. When Mr. Alzate scratched the ticket, his wife, Liliana, asked him to return to the store to confirm that he really won.
“I started jumping and screaming. I was so happy!” exclaims Mr. Alzate, 33. “Your life is changed in one second.”
Mr. Alzate, a resident of Franklin, N.C., says that he’s always been lucky. “I have a good wife, a good family, and good friends.”
Mr. and Mrs. Alzate have two daughters, ages five and two. According to Mr. Alzate, he will use his winnings to help his family. “It can go towards a good future for them.”
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
