ATLANTA – A Kennesaw grandfather was caught off guard when he huddled a half-million dollars in lotto loot. Donald Stewart Jr., 67, won a $500,000 top prize playing the new Georgia Lottery instant game Atlanta Falcons $500,000 Score.
Stewart, a grandfather of four, was grocery shopping at Publix Super Market #0764, 4290 Bells Ferry Road in Kennesaw, when he decided to purchase the ticket. He scratched it in his car.
“I went numb. I couldn’t believe it,” Stewart exclaimed. “This is out of the ordinary. It’s surprising.”
Retired from Target as a supervisor, Stewart said he plans to save his winnings as part of his retirement fund.
In addition to his four grandchildren, he and his wife, Kathriana, have four adult children.
