Friday, July 19, 2013

ATLANTA – One lucky Toccoa woman can keep cool this summer with a refreshing prize from the Georgia Lottery. Patricia Jackson, 66, won a $400,000 top prize playing the instant game $400,000 Bonanza.

Jackson claimed her prize Tuesday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Duluth.

Quick Stop N Shop, located at 816 South Big A Road in Toccoa, sold the winning ticket.

An employee at an agency for the elderly, Jackson anticipates paying off her home mortgage and remodeling her home.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
