Bonaire coach tracks $740,000 Fantasy 5 win

ATLANTA – A Houston County track and field coach has brought home the gold. Charles “Coach Charlie” Santiago of Bonaire matched all five winning numbers in the Aug. 14 Fantasy 5 drawing, winning a $740,004 jackpot prize.

“This just takes it over the top,” said an ecstatic Santiago, 63.

The track and field coach has trained high school students voluntarily through his summer camp and as a community coach for a high school in Houston County.

Santiago said he has coached Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis and Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne while both were in high school in New Jersey.

Winning numbers from the August 14 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 1-6-12-31-32. Filler’s #0022, 801 Highway 96 W. in Warner Robins, sold the winning Quik Pik ticket.

With his winnings, the lucky coach said he anticipates having the opportunity to train even more students through his track and field camp. He also intends to purchase a new home.

“Houston County has opened up their arms, and I’ve always enjoyed coaching children,” he shared.

Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 jackpot tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning jackpot ticket is sold, the retailers selling the winning jackpot tickets will share the bonus. Filler’s will receive a $12,000 retailer incentive bonus.
